Russell Westbrook Is Averaging A Triple Double Going Into December

On a night where Scott Brooks made his grand return to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder with his new team, it was supposed to be emotional. Let alone a thriller.

The game against the Washington Wizards started out rough for Russell Westbrook (he missed shots, missed a dunk), but once he found the groove, it was lights out.

Things were close leading up to the 4th quarter and Russ took it upon his shoulders to bring the Thunder back and take them into overtime with momentum on their side. That super clutch three-pointer with time winding down was huge. But he wasn’t done.

By the time the game hit overtime, Westbrook took over and made sure OKC won, scoring 14 of his 35 points in the extra period. He was getting boards, dishing out the rock and attacking the basket like a maniac. As much as he says he doesn’t care about stats, he cares about winning.

Russy finished with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists on the night, securing his fourth consecutive triple double and the ninth of the season. The boy is the first player since Oscar Robertson to go into December averaging a triple double through 20 games.

He’s in BEASTMODE right now.

FINAL: OKC 126 | WAS 115
