How high will he go?
Besides Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker is the big man on campus in Wisconsin and he’s made the decision to take the next step in his career and declare for the NBA Draft this summer. The Badger junior finished the season averaging 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds and had a great showing at the NCAA Tournament, carrying the school against Arizona and Kentucky to make it to the championship.
NBA scouts are a little worried that his shot beyond the arc isn’t fully developed as of yet, but with work, his stocky could be up as much as anybody coming out of the NCAA draft class this year. So far, he’s projected to hit the lottery, maybe even Top 10.
“Obviously, it’s a tough decision because we’ve had so much success as a team and we’re such good friends. I love the school and am so grateful for everything, but I think this is the right decision for me as a player and as a person. I’m ready for the next step. Another year in college could have helped me, but I feel I can also get much better playing and learning from NBA guys.”
