Super Bowl bound?

Vernon Davis has played his last game in a San Francisco 49ers uniform and is headed to Mile High to join the undefeated Denver Broncos following a trade that might be the start of the team cleaning house.

The Broncos are 7-0 and still have a hole in their tight end position after Julius Thomas walked out in free agency and went to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Peyton Manning hasn’t been playing a Pro Bowl level, but the team continues winning and sit at a cushy 7-0 record, thanks to their beastly defense. Although they already have offensive weapons like Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas, they could use another and bring in Davis, a proven veteran to help Denver make a push for another Super Bowl.

According to Adam Schefter, the 49ers and Broncos are swapping 6th and 7th round picks this year and Denver is sending their 6th round pick in next year’s draft for Davis.

The first-round pick in 2006 departs from San Francisco after 10 years, racking up 441 receptions, 5,640 yards and 55 touchdowns in his career in the red and gold. The past two seasons have been rather slow for him, especially this year, where he’s only had 18 receptions for 194 yards and no touchdowns over the span of 8 games. The 49ers are at a dismal 2-6 right now and can’t get anything going on offense, as the team continues in a downward spiral to finish off the season.
