Scott Brooks To Become Head Coach of Washington Wizards

The coaching carousel in the NBA continues, as news has come out that former Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks is going to the nation’s capitol to join the Washington Wizards.

As much as there is speculation that this is a move by the organization to position themselves and land Kevin Durant during the free agent sweepstakes, it also has to do with not leaving him without a job for much longer for another team to scoop him up (the Houston Rockets were very interested in hiring him, but were waiting until after the playoffs to move forward with negotiations). The Wizards are in dire need of a facelift after not making the playoffs this season after posting a 41-41 record and they’re hoping Brooks comes in an turns the team around.

The deal Scott inked is worth a reported $35 million over five years.

During his tenure in OKC, Brooks had a 338-207 record, taking the team from the lottery to five playoff appearances and one NBA Finals appearance in 2012.
