Last weekend we saw Guillermo Rigondeaux defeat Nonito Donaire, in an upset setting the tone for the next 4 weeks of quality boxing matchups. In the coming weeks, we’ll see main events featuring Saul Alvarez vs. Austin Trout, Sergio Martinez vs. Martin Murray and the May 4th showdown of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert Guerrero.
It’s a great time for the sport of boxing this Spring and we’d highly recommend you to stay tuned for updates for each fight. Floyd Mayweather inked the largest deal ever for a single fighter last winter, leaving HBO for a new 6-fight partnership with Showtime Networks.
Mayweather makes his return to the ring one year after winning the WBA (Super) Light Middleweight title from Miguel Cotto, before his jail stint started and he’ll be fighting Robert Guerrero (35-1), who currently holds the interim WBC welterweight belt. Mayweather will be defending his WBC Welterweight title against Guerrero, as both boxers will be fighting for the vacant Ring Welterweight title. To prepare us for the fight, Showtime Networks reboots their “All Access” series, which is the first featuring Mayweather and takes us behind the scenes leading up to the big showdown.
Mayweather is still the same shit talker (but now more humbled and family oriented for the fight), going back to his home state of Michigan to prepare for the fight with Guerrero, using his age advantage as motivation. Watch episode one above.
