The Rams could be Los Angeles bound by 2016!
Last month, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced now team could move to Los Angeles for the 2015 season. While that was likely never in the plans for the San Diego Chargers or Oakland Raiders (who both having expiring leases coming up), the St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is ready to leave Missouri as soon as possible.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles, Kroenke opened up of his recent purchase of the 60-acre lot between Inglewood’s The Forum and Hollywood Park Casino. Now teaming up with the owners of the 298-acre Hollywood Park site, all parties involved plan to move forward with the new 80,000 seat-stadium – which will also feature hotel, retail, residential, and office space. The bigger story of this news, however, is the group’s bigger picture to bit for a potential host of the 2014 Olympics and a future World Cup.
Construction for the 298-acre City of Champions project would likely complete in 2018, in which a team would have to play at either the L.A. Coliseum or the Rose Bowl. Surprisingly, no tax dollars will be used for the big project, but Hollywood Park is bound to be one of the biggest attractions in not only North America – but the entire world.

“We are excited to unveil an expanded plan that will bring a world-class sports and entertainment district to Hollywood Park. We are committed to working with [the Kroenke Group] to build a project that will put Inglewood back on the map as home of the truly great sports and entertainment venues. This will hasten the time for the citizens of Inglewood to get the project they deserve, this is something they have waited for for a long time.
