It looks like the Detroit Pistons are parting ways with head coach and President of Baketball Operations Stan Van Gundy after a disappointing season in Mo Town after four seasons. He was still in contract for one more season, with both sides looking to renegotiate an extension and have a conversation about his role leading up to next season.

Van Gundy met with Pistons officials within the hour and now team moves onto a search for a new President of Basketball Operations and coach. Those jobs will be separated now.

This season the Pistons went 39-43 and missed the playoffs for the second straight time, even after acquiring Blake Griffin in a trade that was meant to help bolster the team and put them in the postseason.
Detroit has the pieces together to make a run in the Eastern Conference, but will now have look for someone to take charge of the helm and get them over the hump.
That is, if they don’t go into rebuild mode.
