Start ‘Em Or Sit ‘Em: Week 8 Fantasy Football Notes

It’s pretty insane that it’s already week 8 of the Fantasy Football season. As your team makes the jaunt towards the end of the regular season and towards the playoffs, it is these crucial games that will help decide your fate. Looking at the matchups in the coming weeks, you need to make sure you have solid backups for BYE weeks, because one loss could cost you the season.

Before you set that final lineup tomorrow morning, take a gander at some players we think you have to start and some guys you need to definitely stay away from.

Players To Start

  1. Andy Dalton – Dalton and the Bengals have been on a tear the past two weeks on the offensive side of the ball. If you are not sure about what QB to play give the edge to Dalton and you will not be disappointed.
  2. RGIII – RGIII just might be back to his old form. The Redskins QB has been on a roll lately and going against a very mediocre Broncos defense will only help his case. This might actually be a shootout like the Broncos/Cowboys game.
  3. Fred Jackson – Fred Jackson owners have to be ecstatic this season. Everyone thought CJ Spiller would be the main guy but Jackson has proved that they can at least share the load. With Spiller very questionable to play this week, Jackson is an easy start.
  4. Darren Sproles – Coming off of a bye week, the Saints will look to put up some points vs a very weak Bills defense. Look for Sproles to get plenty of touches all over the field in this one.
  5. Jarrett Boykin – The Packers continue to be without some of their main wideouts, so Boykin is an easy play for your WR 2 spot in your lineup.

Players To Sit

  1. Maurice Jones Drew – Remember when this guy was an elite player in the league? Those were the days, but as of right now, it is just too risky to play MJD, especially going against that San Francisco defense.
  2. Geno Smith – We love the young Jets QB and what he does on the field, but like most rookie QB’s, his consistency is a problem. Look for him to struggle against that tough Bengals defense on the road.
  3. Mike Wallace – Talk about a busted season so far. Wallace continues to just be a normal WR in that Dolphins offense, and surely not at the star level for which they gave him all the money in the offseason. He continues to be a Fantasy Football owners nightmare.
  4. Josh Gordon – Gordon came on strong this year for the Browns and had good chemistry with Brian Hoyer at QB. Hoyer is now on IR and Gordon will have journeyman Jason Campbell throwing him the ball. Hey, at least it’s better than Brandon Weeden, right?
  5. CJ Spiller – As we mentioned before Spiller isn’t looking like that elite top-5 pick that everyone thought he was in August. If he even plays in this one don’t expect much.
