The competition was LIT!
The 3-point contest on NBA All-Star Saturday Night always has good shooters, but it seemed like this year, the best of the best were competing for a shot at the title.
Between Kyle Korver, The Splash Brothers, Kyrie Irving and J.J. Redick, it was already lights out. Add James Harden, Wesley Matthews and defending champion Marco Belinelli to the mix? It was going to be an all around grudge match of sharpshooters from beyond the arc.
Some suffered through the first round, but victorious were Irving, Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, two of which were favorites going into the competition. We’ve all seen how hot The Splash Brothers can get in a regular NBA game. Shooting in a competition seems like a regular round of practice for them. It was basically between them two in the final round.
After Kyrie stumbled through his round, Chef Curry found the stroke and light up the basket for 27 points, putting pressure on his teammate.
Ultimately, Thompson fell in the final round, putting up even less points than Irving, but it didn’t matter because the trophy was going to Golden State anyway. Stephen was very well deserving of the title. He was this year’s 2015 Foot Locker Three-Point contest winner.
