Get well soon SS!!
Steve Smith Sr. had already been mulling over retirement after the season and when asked about a possible trade, he adamantly said he wanted to end his career with the Baltimore Ravens. Today might have been the last time he stepped on to the football field.
Towards the end of the third quarter against the San Diego Chargers, Smith caught a pass from Joe Flacco that looked like a routine play that would turn into a break out catch. Unfortunately, after being tackled things took a turn for the worst because he pointed at his Achilles and had to be helped off the field because he could not put any weight on his right leg.
This would be a tragic way to end your career, but Smith Sr. offered plenty to the game and should be proud of what he accomplished during his 14 seasons.
John Harbaugh said Steve Smith tore his Achilles and is out for the season. Could be a career – a great one.
