You’ll be missed, Stinger!
Last September, Sting suffered a career-ending neck injury at WWE’s Night of Champions event. Following the purchase of WCW in 2001, the 56-year-old refused to join Vince McMahon’s promotion for nearly 13 years, but agreed to a limited appearance legends deal with the company in 2014.
With the federation suffering from John Cena, Seth Rollins and Cesaro all out of action for their WrestlemMania 32 event in two weeks, the legendary wrestler will officially hang up his boots. According to TMZ Sports, Sting, who’s already set to receive an induction to the 2016 Class of the WWE Hall-of-Fame, will make the formal announcement in the coming days, we’re assuming.
After being evaluated by several WWE company and personal doctors, they all felt it would be in his best interest to end his career in the ring; as he was diagnosed cervical spinal stenosis. The nerve condition causes severe pain and discomfort, which is the exact injury fellow wrestling legend Edge had to leave the squared-circle for. Stay tuned for an official announcement.
