Team USA Clinches World Cup Spot In Brazil

Landon Donovan

It was complete pandemonium last night in Columbus, Ohio as the United States mens soccer team beat Mexico 2-0 clinching a spot in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. This is the second straight victory for the US over Mexico and set two teams into two completely different directions.

The direction the US team is heading is straight towards Brazil as 2nd half goals from Landon Donovan and Eddie Johnson was the difference. The Mexican team now is in total flux and a spot they are not accustomed to as they will most likely have to travel to New Zealand for a playoff game.

The key part of this game for team USA was their overall resilience and ability to fight off adversity. They came into this crucial matchup missing some key players due to injuries and yellow cards. In light of that they were still able to fight off a very desperate Mexico team and control the game from start to finish. Though it will continue to be a battle for the US team going into the World Cup in Brazil it is good to know that they have the support of the entire country and people are truly excited about the journey.
