It looks like the Texas Longhorns have found their man. After longtime head coach Mack Brown announced he was stepping down from the position following their recent bowl game, the search for his replacement was put into full motion. A number of names had been tossed around that included not only college, but the NFL as well.
Last night, reports broke that Louisville head coach Charlie Strong would be accepting the job. Strong has been with the Cardinals since 2010 and completely turned around the program; going to a BCS game last year and finishing with a record of 12-1 this season.
Before Louisville, Strong served as an assistant at Florida two times and was apart of Urban Meyer’s staff that won two national championships. Strong’s intensity and fire is just what the Texas program needs to get itself back on track and back to the elite ranks of the college football hierarchy. The deal is not finalized yet, but it is believed to be in the area of 4 years with $5 million per year.
