BCS National Championship
Matchup: Auburn vs. Florida State
Date & Time: January 6, 2014; 8:30 EST
The biggest game of the season; the BCS national title game that pits Florida State and Heisman trophy winner Jameis Winston against the Auburn Tigers.
Both teams took very different routes to get to this point and both teams absolutely appear to be the best 2 teams in the country. Now it’s time for it all to be settled on the field. Which ever team wins we can fully expect an all-out battle until the final clock hits zero.
For Florida State the key will be doing exactly what got them to this point in their undefeated season, and that is letting Jameis Winston do what he does. Their entire team functions off of him and their passing game. On the defensive side of the ball keying in on stopping Auburn’s running game will be the main focus for Florida State, though that will not be an easy task at all.
Auburn’s running game is unlike any other team in college football. Using their multitude of backs the run schemes that is almost impossible for defenses to stop. Off of that running game they open up their vertical passing attack, which Auburn QB Nick Marshall has been superb at lately. It will be up to Marshall to effectively run the offense in this one and keep pace with Winston and the Seminoles attack. The outcome of the game could surely come down to which offense has the ball last and if the other defense can step up and make the plays needed.
