Just as expected Oregon came out in this game firing and it wasn’t even close. Mack Brown’s last game as head coach of Texas definitely didn’t go as planned as the talent level between the two squads was just too wide. Both of these squads will now head into very different directions heading into next season.
For Oregon they will be looking at securing one of the 4 playoff spots with the shot at going to the title game. By bringing back a good amount of their core, which includes QB Marcus Mariotta, this is a strong possibility that we will see them as one of the top teams in the country next year.
Texas lands itself on the other side of the spectrum as they try and rebuild up their storied program. This first starts by starting their coaching search and reports indicate they will do this by trying to make a splash with a big name. The good news for them is that they are in the Big 12, which is a conference that will be wide open next year. So there is a pretty good chance that the Longhorns will be one of the more surprising teams of next year.
