Melvin Gordon
Rookies are always hard to gauge because you never know how fast they’ll get acclimated to the NFL speed of the game. Going into the season, Melvin Gordon was regarded as the best rookie running back with the most potential, since he could be a day one starter for the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately, fumbles have cost him a few benchings and performances that were ones to forget. Meanwhile, other rookies (see: Todd Gurley) are running circles around his stats.
With the season pretty much in the tank for the Chargers, it’s best to just let Melvin play it out and work out the kinks to see if he was really worth that first round ticket this past draft, because at this point, the playoffs or any chances at making it are out of the question.
