Rudy Gay
Soon to be 28 years of age in a few weeks, Rudy Gay has had a respectable career if you’re just focusing on stats. The former UCONN star had aspirations of becoming a franchise player but after the Memphis Grizzlies decided to focus their franchise in a traditional approach with the front court, we’ve seen Gay bounced around to the Toronto Raptors and last season ending up in Sacramento.
In recent weeks, the Kings have become public about their desire to keep Rudy in town and a huge payout is something that could keep him in SacTown. Along with a young group of talent like DeMarcus Cousins, Ben McLemore, Isaiah Thomas and Derrick Williams could only enhance his decision thinking long-term (along with that $19 million player option he has this year).
With Trevor Ariza already deciding on returning back West Coast, the Wizards will be looking to fill in a void for their stretch wing. Having the backcourt for the future in John Wall and Bradley Beal is something any front court player will be observing, especially Rudy who’s a Maryland native. Being back in the DMV area is something Rudy would like for his family, but would have to take a tremendous pay cut to do so and see immediate results in Washington, following their nearly Eastern Conference Finals berth against Indiana last month.
