The Golden State Warriors Historic 24-Game Winning Streak Has Ended

Now Golden State can return to the normalcy of the NBA

Throughout the 2016 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors have had a serious target on their backs, for breaking through the traditional stigma of becoming the first jump-shooting team to win an NBA Championship. The team soon jumped to a lengthy winning-streak, that even became the second longest ever in the history of the NBA; coming just 5 games shy of the Los Angeles Lakers 33-game winning streak set in the 1971-72 regular season.

Following their OT-victory Friday night against the Boston Celtics and Klay Thompson still battling an ankle injury, Golden State could no longer fathom their perfection this season – at least this go-round.

The Milwaukee Bucks saw a huge opportunity, as they welcomed the Bay Area collective to their stadium, who were on the last outing of a 7-game road trip. Klay would finish with just 12 points for the night, as Stephen Curry’s 28 and Draymond Green’s 24 points wasn’t enough to keep their flawless season in-tact. Greg Monroe would lead the Bucks to their 10th win of the season, as he dominated the Golden State’s lack-of interior defense, to pour in 28 points of his own.

Steph Curry after their streak coming to an end

This loss marked the Warriors’ first regular season defeat in 249 days, which was all done without their head coach, Steve Kerr. We have to commend interim coach Luke Walton for keeping Golden State on the right track this season, as nobody on the outside expected him to instill their Championship mindset without Coach Kerr. The Warriors finally get to rest up for the next few days, until their first home game in nearly two weeks against the Phoenix Suns this Wednesday.

An interesting note to take into consideration, is that their rivaled San Antonio Spurs are only 4 games back in conference standings. Whether or not they decide to rest a few of their starters this holiday remains to be seen, but we’ll definitely be paying attention in the coming days leading up to their NBA Finals Christmas Day showdown against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
