The Knicks Coaching Carousel: Who Should Be The Next Coach?

Tyronn Lue

Although he was a secondary option behind Brian Shaw (who recently stated he would not be leaving the Nuggets to coach the Knicks), Steve Kerr (who took the Warriors head coaching position) and Derek Fisher – Lue still makes a strong case. Not only did he play for Phil Jackson, winning two championships with the Lakers, but he has been prepped for a head coaching role by one of the greats (Doc Rivers) as an assistant.

Rivers took Lue under his wing in 2009 to teach him the game from a coaching standpoint and has even included him on his current Clippers staff. Lue, much like Derek Fisher, has a very good understanding of what made the Lakers successful under Phil Jackson, which would make it easier for the two to connect and improve the Knicks immediately.

It is unclear whether or not, the bright lights of New York City and cut throat fans will be too much for the young first time head coach. A better fit for him may be the Cleveland Cavaliers who have shown great interest in Lue.
