The Knicks Coaching Carousel: Who Should Be The Next Coach?

Other Options

The longer the search continues, the more names will surface such as Nate McMillan, John Callipari, current assistants Kurt Rambis and Jim Cleamons. But, there has been a consistent trend – it seems Jackson wants one of his former players to lead the Knicks (all leading candidates played under Jackson: Derek Fisher, Brian Shaw, Steve Kerr, and Tyronn Lue) maybe the Zen Master still wants to have his hand in coaching at times and that would make it easier.

One thing is very clear, whoever the Knicks decide to bring in needs to be enough to lure Carmelo Anthony to stay in New York as he becomes a free Agent in 2015 and has shown every sign of opting out. He’s still on the fence about opting in and not exploring free agency, but all of that is up in the air at the moment.

Either way, Jackson and the Knicks have their hands full this offseason!
