Ochocinco Cut By New England After Only One Season.
Last July after acquiring No. 85 from Cincinnati in a trade for 3 draft picks, many thought this would be the replacement for Randy Moss pitting him with one of the most successful QB and Coach tandems in all of football. Having a past relationship with head coach Bill Belichick, Ochocinco willingly even took a big pay cut to join the team with hopes of re-establishing his career from previous Pro Bowl caliber years with the Bengals. Things quickly turned bad when Chad started 2 of the first 5 games last season for New England and failed to grasp the Belichick playbook. Ochocinco was ultimately phased out of the offense with the Patriots even managing to make it to Super Bowl XLVI. Already loaded at with receiver position with Deion Branch and Wes Welker, the Patriots didn’t make things any better for Chad this off-season by adding veterans Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney, and Donte’ Stallworth to the roster pushing Ochocinco to the bottom of the team’s depth chart. Prior to joining the Patriots, Ochocinco had seven 1,000-yard receiving years and a high of 97 catches but in the 2011 season he only managed to get 15 catches and 276 yards marking a career low in production. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus said earlier today “he’s in the process of gauging interest from potential teams.”
The only question now is which teams will actually want to be a suitor for Chad.
Dolphins? Jets? Chargers?
