The Real Reason Why Kyrie Irving Went to the Nets on a Max Deal & Not Lakers

Simply put, the Lakers don’t want him. . .

As we saw earlier this year, Kyrie Irving called LeBron James to apologize for being a naïve young player, which sparked speculation on a reunion.

However, this was never the case for either player. Now, they both love each other off the court, but don’t really like each other’s style of play. The two would never want to pair up again – ever.

For whatever reason, beat writers and reporters began a Kyrie to LA reunion with LeBron James, as their main narrative during the middle of the season. At the time, Kyrie had an internal beef with Jayson Tatum and the two didn’t get along throughout their entire 2019 campaign.

However, the apology was more of a slight at his teammates on the Celtics and made it clear that he was out of Boston. Coincidentally, he held a speech in the Celtics Garden before the start of the season, telling fans that he was going to sign an extension.

You’re wondering to yourself why the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t attempt to reunite him with LeBron. Well, Jeanie Buss and Kobe Bryant never wanted Kyrie on the team and only have one player in mind, Kawhi Leonard. They’re not trying to clear up cap space for Kyrie, D’Angelo or Jimmy Butler.

So, this nonsense of a reunion with Bron, Kyrie and turning AD into their Kevin Love narrative was never going to happen. We’re assuming the Nets have something up their sleeves, since Kyrie isn’t looking to waste any more of his prime years for money.

Along with Roc Nation Sports helping his career at the helm, the New York-based agency will begin to build Kyrie’s brand larger than life.
