The $114 million dollar man gets benched
If trading away Vernon Davis wasn’t enough headline news for the San Francisco 49ers, the team is also planning to officially bench former star QB, Colin Kaepernick – until further notice. With a 2-6 start to the season, the team is at the mid-way point for the year and have zero chances of making the post-season. Bay Area Sports Guy and ESPN have confirmed the team is sending Kaep to the sidelines, as former Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert will assume the voided role.
Since the exit of Jim Harbaugh last winter, the team has been in complete disarray; with players retiring, getting arrested and missing the entire season due to injuries. While it’s unlikely that Colin will be traded before tomorrow’s deadline, he’s only in the first year of his 6-season, $114 million dollar contract – and to make matters worse, his birthday is only in a few hours.
Benching Colin Kaepernick is a stunning move and fall from grace. A QB good enough to get 49ers to SB being now discarded for Blaine Gabbert
