IT’S LIT!
The no football teams in the Los Angeles area hiatus is all but a wrap, as NFL owners have voted to bring the St. Louis Rams to Inglewood, California.
The plan was voted on by a 30-2 margin, when it was only necessary for 24 votes to get it passed. There are still plenty of negotiations to go, with a second team still in the works to join the Rams in L.A. The San Diego Chargers have one year to agree to terms with the proposal, and if they decline, the Oakland Raiders will have the chance to also make the move.
There was also a proposal in consideration that would bring Oakland and San Diego together in a stadium in Carson, CA but the Chargers and St. Louis proposal seems more likely.
Once the stadium in Inglewood is built, it will mark the biggest of any team in the NFL, even bigger than AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Until the stadium is finished in 2019, the Rams and whatever team joins them will share the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.
The total cost for the plan will be upwards of about $3 billion.
