“I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!”

When the World Cup started, the United States national team has very little chance of moving on in what was referred to “The Group of Death.” But Climp Dempsey and company had other plans, and they happened 30 seconds into the game.

The United States showed people across the world that they were a squad to be reckoned with in that first game. And Americans rallied behind the team.

In this short documentary showing USMNT’s journey in Brazil, Grantland talks to Michael Bradley, Tim Howard, and Jürgen Klinsmann about advancing to the knockout stage and what happened in the game against Belgium. If you remember correctly, Howard made 16 saves that day, setting the record for the most in a single World Cup match in the history of the tournament. It was amazing to watch.

Unfortunately, their journey ended with a 2-1 loss that game, but the U.S. was on the brink of scoring the equalizer in extra time.

The future is looking bright for United States soccer, especially because this year, the sport seemed to break into the mainstream like never before and given Americans hope for the next four years. We’re sure the men’s national team has inspired an entire generation of players who can one day dream and accomplish the task of bringing the trophy home to North America.
