After a long battle with cancer, TNT broadcaster and journalist Craig Sager has died at the age of 65. He was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2014 and still worked through his disease, until the end. He enjoyed a 40-year career as a sideline reporter and plenty of coaches and players loved to talk to him, aside from just being mesmerized by his colorful suits.

The network put out a statement following his passing:

“Craig Sager was a beloved member of the Turner family for more than three decades and he has been a true inspiration to all of us. There will never be another Craig Sager. His incredible talent, tireless work ethic and commitment to his craft took him all over the world covering sports. While he will be remembered fondly for his colorful attire and the TNT sideline interviews he conducted with NBA coaches and players, it’s the determination, grace and will to live he displayed during his battle with cancer that will be his lasting impact. Our thoughts and prayers are with Craig’s wife, Stacy, and the entire Sager family during this difficult time. We will forever be Sager Strong.”

Throughout his battle with leukemia, Sager missed out on the 2014 and 2015 NBA playoffs, but got to live out his life long dream of working the NBA Finals this past June. Through TNT and ESPN, Craig got the opportunity and worked the sidelines alongside Doris Burke for Game 6 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

He was also awarded the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the 2016 ESPYS shortly after.

We’ve all seen how much he fought the disease and have all been inspired by his story. May Sager rest in peace. We will all remember you for being #SagerStrong.
