The entire year, all we heard from the NFL media was how much there was a quarterback controversy in Dallas and what would happen to Dak Prescott once Tony Romo got healthy.
Jerry Jones would fuel the fire with his post-game comments but ultimately, Dak prevailed.
The rookie quarterback has led the Cowboys to a first-round bye and one of the best records in the entire league. Nobody has been able to touch their run in the NFC.
With the playoffs around the corner, Dallas decided to sit their starters for the last game of the season, which only meant playing time for Tony Romo. After waiting weeks in the wings as his rookie teammate kept winning, he got his chance and made the most of it.
On his only touchdown drive, he kept looking for Terrence Williams and connected with him a few times, including his 3-yard touchdown catch in the red zone.
Coach Jason Garrett, Prescott and all his teammates greeted him and congratulated him after the drive. It is possibly the last we will see of Romo in a Cowboys uniform and maybe his career. There is a lot of uncertainty going on with him and how Dallas will deal with his contract and/or if he will be traded to another team in the offseason.
The touchdown extends his Cowboys all-time leading record for touchdown passes to 248, and was his first TD since November 22, 2015 against the Miami Dolphins.
