Can Robert Griffin III Remain Healthy in 2014?

As the start of the regular season approaches, there are many questions floating around the league in regards to the quarterback position, but none more than the health and mental state of Redskins Robert Griffin III.

It’s no secret, Griffin III has faced heavy criticism throughout the off-season and unfortunately his preseason performance did not help his case. Sadly, his return is very similar to Derrick Rose, who at times was hesitant, in moments his instincts would’ve taken over before injury. Even his teammate Chris Cooley noticed after their final preseason game stating,”

When I watched him play, I don’t see him letting the ball go. I see him as a quarterback who’s afraid to fail, a quarterback who ultimately in my opinion thinks if he throws three picks in this preseason game, it’s worse than doing anything else. And that’s what I didn’t like. He had guys open throughout the game. He had his number one reads open multiple times throughout the game, and just pulled the ball down.

Hopefully, RG III can get back to the elite status that led Baylor to build a statue of the quarterback (which was revealed this past weekend) and made him a top draft pick. Kirk Cousins continues to do an excellent job in the battle for the starting role, but that should spark the competitive fire in Griffin.

If that is going to come, it needs to show up quick because the announcement should be made this week as to who will be leading the Redskins opening weekend.
