Carson Smith
Carson Smith has possibly one of the simplest jobs in the league; well at least he makes it look that way. The task at hand is to come in the 8th inning and control the game, basically set up the 9th. Smith is the setup man for one of the best closers in the game, Fernando Rodney, so he just has to play damage control for an inning. The whole month of April he didn’t give up a run in 10 innings pitched, which may not seem like much but that’s his first full month of MLB baseball. Total now he has 30 innings pitched 36 strikeouts and only 5 walks. He ended up giving up his first run in the first outing of May, now with a 1.48 era he leads qualifying rookie pitchers.
