The Top NFL MVP Candidates Halfway Through The NFL Season

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys

Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Devonta Freeman has had an overwhelmingly impact on the Atlanta Falcons’ offense, helping catapult them to one of the best, most dynamic offenses in the league. He’s tallied 10 total touchdowns in just seven games played this year, with only five of those being starts. Freeman has finally filled the void left by Michael Turner when he fell off, and is inarguably having an MVP year. While it’ll take a lot for a running back (especially an unheralded one such as Freeman) to beat out the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, he’s most definitely giving them a run for their money. He’s been drawing comparisons to the legendary Ladainian Tomlinson, and for good reason—his ability to run the ball as well as catch it isn’t something we see amongst a ton of RBs nowadays.
