Tracy McGrady Considering Baseball Career

Who doesn’t love a comeback story? Sources today are reporting that former NBA player Tracy McGrady is very interested in a baseball career and has even been working out with Roger Clemens to prepare. The news first broke from last night’s ESPN broadcast when his former coach Jeff Van Gundy revealed that McGrady would be playing this year in an Independent baseball league as a pitcher. Van Gundy then went on to say that Tracy is throwing over 90 mph, which is pretty remarkable for someone his age and for that fact that he has never played professional baseball.

While it would be especially cool if McGrady got a MLB shot as a pitcher, even seeing him out for an Independent league team would be awesome to watch. We hope he follows his dreams and makes it a reality this year.

More after the jump, including an old video where Tracy speaker on baseball being his first love and something he would love to try.

“Speaking real quickly of McGrady, I think he’s going to play independent league baseball as a pitcher this year. In the independent league,” Van Gundy said.
“I’m being serious. I’ve heard from sources in Houston — seriously — that he’s throwing over 90 miles per hour. The Sugar Land Skeeters — Roger Clemens pitched for them last year, it was awesome.”
