Hunter sits down with Steve Austin
Last holiday, WWE fans finally got clarity on why CM Punk left the company in 2014. On-air, the McMahon’s portrayed CM Punk quitting the company, but the Chicago wrestling legend soon revealed he was fired on his wedding day and endured some significant issues with clearing checks. WWE owner, Vince McMahon soon apologized a week later, revealing he had no idea about the paperwork being sent to his house.
That would immediately outrage Punk, detailed how the paperwork was dated 24 Hours before and shipped overnight through FedEx, to unfortunately receive the news on the biggest day of his life. Last Monday, Triple H sat down with Steve Austin for an hour-long conversation to discuss how kayfabe dying has put them in limbo heading forward. He soon cited the current WWE product as the Reality ERA and how difficult it has been to cater to their 18-35 male age group (the smarks), families with children and the casual audience.
While the product has been rated-PG for nearly a decade, its lacked severe character development in recent years – with the exception of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. At the present, HHH has been working with new talents in the company’s minor league system, known as NXT. In comparison to giving them scripts for no further character development, he’s allowing talent to go semi-impromptu for better mic work.
Hunter would also dismiss rumors of ever having an issue with Punk, vaguely saying “I didn’t know the guy and we never had great communication.” Steve Austin would spontaneously sneak in Chyna’s name to the conversation, who hasn’t been mentioned from the company in nearly 15 years.
Given her past adult film history, HHH had issues with bringing her back, due to a simple Google search from fans (like his daughter) coming across her former work.
