The First Ever All-Heavyweight PPV.
Tonight’s tale of the tape features UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos and challenger Frank Mir. This fight was originally scheduled for Alistair Overeem to fight Dos Santos after his win over Brock Lesnar last December, but due to his failed drug test UFC President Dana White announced Frank Mir as the replacement. For the first time if UFC history, all fights featured on the card will be all heavyweight bouts. This will be Dos Santos’s first title defense since knocking out Cain Velasquez at UFC on Fox 1. Challenger Frank Mir is currently on a three fight win streak in which his last fight at UFC 140 was a submission victory over Antônio Nogueira. Mir obviously isn’t expecting to win tonight but in order for him to have a chance he will have to somehow get Dos Santos on his back, so he can use his ground game, pause. If the fight just turns into a striking bout, expect JDS to end it via TKO.
