Sexual enhancement pills before a fight?
Remember last February when both Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz both failed drugs? Well, while Diaz was trying to get high for an added boost before the UFC 183 bout, Silva tested positive for the first time ever on a banned substance. Widely considered the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, the former UFC middleweight champion has officially been suspended one year by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for the failed drug tests (plural).
During the Thursday afternoon hearing, Silva went to tell the Nevada State Athletic Commission “I’m human and I have made mistakes, It definitely was a mistake. If I had known this supplement that I was taking for something else would have caused this sort of problem, I never would have taken it.”
The Brazilian MMA legend tested positive for an anabolic steroid known as drostanolone, and a form of androstane – a contaminated sexual enhancer (what the hell). Silva’s defense argued hilariously that failed for the sexual enhancer shouldn’t count towards his suspension, as well the anti-anxiety medication, which they didn’t know were illegal. Prior to his return to the ring last January, Anderson was out of action 13 months with a broken leg suffered in 2013 and will be eligible for an octagon re-entry after January 31, 2016.
