USC Fires Lane Kiffin After Four Seasons

Lane Kiffin was once touted as the next “it” coach, but now he is unemployed. USC decided to fire Kiffin this morning after beginning the season 3-2 and suffering a blowout loss last night to Arizona State. This was Kiffin’s fourth season at the University of Southern California, where they were all filled with disappointment after an overall record of 28-15. Kiffin was never able to fully take the reigns at USC and accomplish what his predecessor Pete Carroll was able to do. Especially after a plagued with NCAA sanctions.

Now the USC Trojans must move on and find the right coach to takeover the storied program. On ESPN today, Keyshawn Johnson brought up a very interesting candidate that should be absolutely considered: Herm Edwards. Herm has proved that he can make a team a winner and there is no doubt he would be able to pull recruits to the school.

The next move for Kiffin will be a very interesting one. There is no doubt that Kiffin has the ability to be a coach on either the NCAA or NFL level, but for the moment, he might serve best as a coordinator at either level.
