Vince McMahon Apologizes to CM Punk for WWE Wedding Day Firing

Don’t expect CM Punk back with the WWE anytime soon – or ever

Last week, CM Punk came out of an 11-month exile to open up to fans on why he was no longer working with World Wrestling Entertainment. Throughout the nearly 2-hour conversation with his second city saint cohort Colt Cabana on The Art of Wrestling podcast, he detailed a timeline of events and cited his injury as the main reasoning he needed a break from the ring. Prior to his wedding to WWE Diva AJ Lee over the summer, Punk still had somewhat of an itch to return to action – but that was until he received a FedEx package of his firing the day of.

After years of frustration, Punk vented (without completely shooting) about his time with Vince McMahon in the Connecticut-based sports entertainment company. Publicly questioning the companies direct and their morals regarding the health of wrestlers, this immediately prompted the higher power to bring his scheduled appearance on The Steve Austin Show live to the WWE Network, immediately following Monday Night Raw.

While the full show has been taken down all video sites due to copyright, Vince opened up on not knowing Punk was fired on his wedding day; and publicly apologized to a performer for the first time ever. Contrary to popular belief, this is indeed not a “work,” meaning the two sides have legitimate professional heat.
