It’s that time of the week again, and we are back to break down some things for you as you head into week 3 of the Fantasy Football season. There have to be some frustrated owners out there who racked up a loss in matchups that were secured, when their best players didn’t show up to play or scored minmal points.
Did you get burned by playing against Calvin Johnson & Michael Vick? Did your team totally brick behind the likes of Collin Kaepernick and Ray Rice? No worries, we are going to decipher everything you will need to know to help you secure a victory in week 3.
There are still some great pickups out there on the waiver, and if you want to improve your squad, you might want to keep an eye on these players for next week.
OS REWIND: The Mistakes Of A First Time Fantasy Football Player
Players To Add
- James Starks – Even without the Packers losing Eddy Lacy to a concussion, the pickup of Starks would be a good move. He seems to be healthy for the first time in awhile and ready to be the feature back in Green Bay. He was their first RB to put up 100+ yards in a game this season and he’s looking to double that up this week.
- Eddie Royal – The San Diego Chargers seem to be back to their old ways of being an offensive force and to the surprise of many, Phillip Rivers’ favorite target this year so far has been Eddie Royal. With Malcom Floyd out for a little bit look for Royal to get even more looks.
- DeAndre Hopkins – Hopkins is clearly one of Matt Schaub’s favorite targets in Houston, and Andre Johnson is having some health issues that will only increase his looks. If he is available in your league, snatch him up ASAP.
- Philip Rivers – Is your QB underachieving? It may be time to give Rivers a serious look. Like we mentioned before, that Chargers offense is firing on all cylinders and Rivers is set to return to the solid FF QB that he was a couple of years ago.
- Coby Fleener – Andrew Luck really seems to like to throw to his TE and Fleener is that main guy right now. If you have been slacking in that department in the first two weeks, this is a solid move.
Players To Sit
- Ryan Matthews – It really looks like he isn’t ever going to be THAT guy in San Diego. Only time will tell, but until he proves he can be a feature back, it is not wise to play him.
- David Wilson – Wilson will be alright in New York, but as a team, they are having some major struggles. It also doesn’t help his cause that Coughlin doesn’t trust him handing him the ball. Play Wilson cautiously until the Giants get all their kinks worked out.
- Miles Austin – That Dallas offense is all over the place early this year and it looks like Austin just isn’t one of Romo’s main targets anymore.
- Ray Rice – Rice suffered what looked like a pretty serious injury in last weeks game and it is not known how much time he will miss. If you have a solid backup it might be a smart move to plug him in, maybe just for this week.
- Eddy Lacy – Not only did Lacy suffer a concussion in their last game, but he also hasn’t looked as impressive as James Starks early on this season. Lacy is officially on the wait-and-see what he does next list before you put him back on your starting roster.
5 Best Matchup’s Of The Week
- Calvin Johnson vs. Washington – Washington might just have the worst defense in the league. The secondary was torched by Aaron Rodgers, so expect Megatron to go into full beast mode in this one.
- Collin Kaepernick vs. Indianapolis – Kap struggled last week vs. that tough Seattle defense, but luckily for him he gets a much better matchup this week. Indy has a lot of holes on that side of the ball so look for Kap to be slinging it and running around all day back there.
- Marshawn Lynch vs. Jacksonville – Beast mode will be turned lose this Sunday as he goes up against easily the worst team in the league. Expect it to not be very close, which will equal a ton of carries for Lynch in this one.
- Chris Johnson vs. San Diego – We may finally see the 2013 breakout game for Chris Johnson. That San Diego team has improved but defensively they still have some holes. If CJ gets going early then he could be in for a huge game.
- Jaamal Charles vs. Philadelphia – It will be Andy Reid’s return to Philly so expect the Chiefs to come out playing at 125% in this one. Charles is a full time gamer to so without question look for him to have a big game.
