Washington Redskins Officially Hire Jay Gruden To Become The Six Coach In Dan Snyder’s 15-Year Tenure.
The Washington Redskins officially hire now former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator, Jay Gruden. The Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions were previously in the hunt for Gruden, but they eventually lost the sweepstakes. In comparison to his recent tenure with Cincinnati, Gruden had arguably the deepest offensive collection of weapons in the NFL; but now he heads to a lack of depth plagued Redskins team.
Washington previously had a messy situation with former head coach Mike Shanahan warring with franchise QB, Robert Griffin III. RG3 recently boasted about having influence in the hiring process of their next head coach, but has been on vacation from the team. We still think Griffin had input in the hiring of Gruden, which they will have a busy off-season to retool in free agency as well as the upcoming 2014 NFL draft. This may not be the Gruden that Redskins billionaire owner Daniel Synyder wanted, but he’s a formidable replacement heading forward.
