After being chosen as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Robert Griffin III era in Washington is officially over. RGIII has seen a sharp decline since his incredible rookie season, after tearing his ACL and LCL and suffering multiple injuries after. Ultimately he did not play one game in the 2015-2016 season and was benched indefinitely in favor of Kirk Cousins.
Griffin ended the season with a message for the Redskins organization, knowing that this would be his last season in a Washington uniform. The team would have to pay him $16 million next season, so the move makes sense. Ownership always had hope in Robert, but coach Jay Gruden and his staff were clearly not, pressuring the organization to move on from him on numerous occasions.
So what’s next for RGIII? The Dallas Cowboys were rumored to have interest, but it seems like the Kansas City Chiefs are more in play for the quarterback. It just depends on how healthy he can remain and he can regain his rookie form moving forward.
It was a blessing guys. I just want to say thank you. pic.twitter.com/wzHbsRMlhL
