The Buck Showalter Effect
The game of baseball is won on the diamond, but that’s through proper lineups, rotations and motivation from their manager. During the 1990s, Buck Showalter had success developing the New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks through their darker years of non-success. Coincidentally, he left both franchises prior to them winning World Series the following year. However, he’s not trying to have that same fate with his Baltimore Orioles.
After finishing 2013 without a playoff appearance, Showalter finally won his first major ALDS title a few days ago, in their impressive 3-0 sweep against the Detroit Tigers. We’re expecting that trend of success to continue with their upcoming series against the Kansas City Royals, which Buck may finally be nearing his first ever Pennant.
