Michael Pineda Suspected After Second Pine Tar Allegation Incident.
New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda has been suspended by Bud Selig and the MLB for illegal usage of a foreign substance on his neck. Home plate umpire, Gerry Davis ejected Pineda in the second inning of their 5-1 loss to rival Boston Redsox last night after a noticeable smear of on his neck observed by opposing manager John Farrell. So far this season, the 25-year-old native of the Dominican Republic has had the best ERA at 1.83 and is already being looked upon as a future legitimate ace for the Yankees starters.
This comes just two weeks after initial allegations he had pine tar against the Red Sox, which Farrell opted not to mention to umps; we’re assuming since his pitcher was using the same formula at the same. The usage is a catch-22 however, which in some cases during the postseason when the weather drops below 50 degrees, a limited amount is allocated; while it’s still allowed for all batters.
