There go the New York Yankees we know. This morning sources reported that the Bronx Bombers have won the chase for Japanese superstar pitcher Masahiro Tanaka and will sign him to a monster 7-year/$155 million deal. This deal is the fifth highest contract ever for a pitcher in MLB history, but almost every expert predicts Tanaka will be worth it. Last year the 25 year old dominated in Japan, posting an astonishing 24-0 record with an ERA of 1.27.
Giving out that kind of bread makes sense to as why the Yanks were pretty quiet in free agency (for their standards) and even let star second basemen Robinson Cano leave for Seattle. Tanka will come in right away and help the Yankees where they need it most and immediately puts the team back in the hunt for a title. When your arch rival wins another World Series, the pressure is on to get back to the promise land. Now all they have to do is get some of that A-Rod money back.
