Zach Randolph Suspended Game 7 Against Oklahoma City Thunder

Dan Crawford, Zach Randolph
Memphis Grizzlies face elimination game 7 Saturday evening against Oklahoma City Thunder.

NBA league officials brought the hammer down to set an example for others, with suspending Memphis Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph for allegedly throwing a punch in game 6 Thursday night. With a little over 6 minutes left in the Thunder’s game 6 route in Memphis, Randolph became tangled up with Steven Adams after a play and struck his jaw.

Whether it was intentional or not, Silver and company felt it was necessary to suspend Randolph for a pivotal game 7 on Saturday. Zach has been averaging a team-best 18 points a game (along with 8 boards) throughout the series, but ironically the team has played better with him off the bench in offensive, defensive and +/- efficiency thus far. The team will now look for Kosta Koufos and Ed Davis to provide an extra boost of offense and hopefully a few jumpers to finally fall from Tony Allen. Check after the jump for more on the story.
