Cheesing Is Nearly All Gone
To piggy-back off our love for the next controls, it’s almost impossible to cheese online against opponents. Last season with NBA 2K15, cheesing just got ridiculously out of hand and the franchise became the Wild Wild West when you signed into the servers. Like nothing surprised us anymore with that game, it was just broken – badly. This year, however, when players try to do the usual left-to-right dribbling cheese, it forces them to either lose the ball on a defender’s reach or slow down their process. Just like real life, no person living can do 20 different dribbling combinations back-to-back, which essentially had the game lose its realism.
Also, trying to drive to the rim with one person on multiple occasions, ties into the left-to-right cheese; as computer defenders have the largest A.I. we’ve seen in basketball video game to date. You obviously make on-the-fly adjustments in private games with friends, but you’ll see computers recognizing similar patterns if you’re doing them throughout the game – beyond double team.
