PlayStation 4 vs. Xbox One: A Look Into Next Generation’s Console Wars

The most important aspect of buying a console will always be the games. In the past, we’ve been discouraged by Microsoft’s lack of hardware stability, that’s still lasting now with current Xbox 360’s we have even at the end of its lifespan. While the hardware has always been pretty awful, we’ve always ran back to the Xbox, largely due to its superior online and large support from third party developers.

This however might not be a repeat in the next gen, as developers are coming out saying the PlayStation 4 is easy to develop for in comparison to having difficulty with the last console in the first few years after launch. With the Xbox 360 so easy to develop on, third party developers ran with Microsoft which hurt PlayStation in software sales. While the hardware sales eventually evened out worldwide, Sony’s software sales were always underwhelming (even for their “Killer Apps”). With many original fans of the PS1 and PS2, who left for 360 returning back for the PS4; we expect to see the PlayStation 4’s software sales rise.

Contrary to what’s been said so far, we’re still siding with the Xbox One due to its exclusives headlined by Titanfall, Dead Rising 3, Halo (5?), Forza 5 and Killer Instinct. We love the PlayStation 4’s lineup of Driveclub (best racer for next-gen), The Order: 1886, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and Infamous: Second Son; but until they announce a new Uncharted (which we should’ve seen at e3), we’re going to have to side with Microsoft’s sexy launch window of titles.

Final Fantasy XV & Kingdom Hearts 3 would’ve put the PS4 over with it being exclusive, but Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto came out yesterday following the Sony e3 to announce the games would also release on Xbox One; and Destiny is also neither exclusive to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Winner: Xbox One
