One of the bigger mysteries in gaming this year has been the background story on how new developer Sledgehammer Games was tapped to produce the next Call of Duty title. In the past, we’ve seen a switch-off every year between Infinity Ward and Treyarch Games, which in retrospect led to the series (and genre) becoming very stagnant for console gamers.
Now with Sledgehammer looking to bring life back to first person shooters, we expect the level of quality and creativity to take an immediate increase starting this fall with Advanced Warfare. Creative Director, Bret Robbins touches on how his team has done proper researching for the game’s story mode, and bringing authentic technology to the title in presentation and character models. Taking the approach this time on a single protagonist 40 years in the future – military advisers, delta force operators, navy seals and even futurist were all tapped to contribute into making this the most realistic and believable installment for the franchise to date.
