‘Destiny 2’ Developer Explains Why PS4 Pro Can’t Run Game at 60 Frames

“It’s not enough horsepower there yet”

Last week, Bungie Games revealed the official debut trailer for their upcoming AAA-release of Destiny 2. Well, the biggest question regarding its pending release later this year, was whether or not the title could properly run the title at 60-frames-per-second. While D2 will be shown in 4K, it sadly won’t have the power of hitting the benchmark for gaming later this year.

In an interview with IGN News, game director Luke Smith cited the PS4 Pro’s hardware not being capable of obtaining a locked in 60fsp; as the title will instead run at 30 – due to the system’s CPU.

The PC version, which will have a release date later than the upcoming console versions, and will have an un-capped fps release running at 4K. Sadly, Bungie wouldn’t confirm or deny if the Xbox Scorpio version would get a locked 60 frames release, and declined to speak on its upcoming rollout.

With the exception of Horizon: Zero Dawn being one of the most glorious looking titles of the current-gen to date; we still can’t find a reason to properly invest in the new machine. Let us know in the comments below if you still plan on upgrading your PS4 after this latest revelation.
