The 2014 edition of the Electronic Entertainment Expo has finally arrived. Microsoft pilots the week-long event as usual with their Xbox presentation to set things off. Last year, we were formally introduced to their Xbox One console, which initially was greeted with harsh criticism for its pricing of $499, internet connectivity required to play games and most of all — no used games. While the company has taken the proper steps in cutting the price down by $100 and even dropping the Kinect from the console, they have an insane amount of ground to catch up to Sony, who jumped out the gate with an early lead over Nintendo and Microsoft.

Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, new IPs and a long-awaited Gears of War title have been confirmed to be revealed today, but we’re hoping Microsoft introduces new technology for the console and details on when those 45 apps will be hitting the console this year.

There’s obviously going to be winners and losers, but we’re hoping developers don’t over exaggerate titles with graphics that aren’t possible on this generation of gaming (see: Madden NFL 2006 and the original WATCH_DOGS trailer). Round two of the console wars starts right now with a livestream from downtown Los Angeles.
