During the 2013 Game Developers Conference, both Hideo Kojima and Konami were on hand at the event to discuss the upcoming next installment(s) of their stealth-based series, Metal Gear Solid. Originally announced as two separate projects in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain; Konami and Kojima revealed both projects will collectively make up “Metal Gear Solid V.”

Ground Zeroes will serve as a prologue to The Phantom Pain taking place 10 Days after the 2010 video game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker; while Phantom Pain will follow the events of Ground Zeroes when “Big Boss” falls into his 9-year coma. In the trailer, we see Peace Walker’s return in the new MGS V “The Phantom Pain” trailer reveal showcasing the new FOX engine that will be used for the first time ever.

After the jump, you can watch the trailer giving you a visual representation of what to expect in the open world shooter, showing off the new organization “The Diamond Dogs” you’ll be part of to battle with the new unknown organization, XOF. The games not expected to hit next-generation upcoming Microsoft & Sony consoles; so we’re hoping it’ll launch this holiday season on current PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
