In the first Developer Insight video for the upcoming basketball sim, we get our first taste of NBA 2K13 game-play which introduces and demonstrates stick dribbling. As most of you should know stick dribbling was formerly a creation from the EA Sports NBA Live series. 2K Senior Game Developer Mike Wang, who previously worked over at EA Sports for NBA Live 10 (the most “recent” in the series) ‘borrowed’ the Live innovation by revamping it to what we will know in 2K13 as the ‘Control Stick’. Last year for NBA 2K12, the right analog stick was used primarily for shooting; but this year for it’s predecessor, it will also be used for dribbling, passing and post play as we will virtually have freedom for an all new plethora of game-play.

Also in a first year for 360 version, we will have voice recognition through Kinect while playing against AI (No Online or Local Multiplayer). With the Kinect voice-integration implement for 2K13, we will have the ability to use voice-play-making, calling timeouts, changing defense, and calling plays just to name a few. Also in a first this year, if you’re playing with the Kinect enabled and a foul occurs but you don’t agree with the call and “swear”, you will be issued with a technical foul. Sadly for PS3 owners, PS Move support will not be available for this year NBA 2K13.

We can expect to see more info in the next coming weeks including My Player, The Association, Online Modes and most of all….a Demo.
